Everone had a distinct ability, even distinct personality. There is no need to brag our competence. Our accomplishment will do it for us.
If you are a businessman, let your success measured by your kind of business establishment officially indexed. If you are an IT expert, show your high-tech achievement in the web. If you are a religious scholar, prove it with a book you have authored, or at least your written publications in well known outlets.
In my case, if I need to prove myself as a journalist and an academician, I can say something.
As a journalist, I have the following accomplishment:
First, I am the only Muslim Filipino who has published long-running newspapers such as The Ranao Star and Philippine Muslim Today in the country for which and other similar publications I founded I was dubbed by my colleagues "Patriarch of Muslim Journalism in the Philippines."
Second, I was honored as protem secretary general of the Organizing Secretariat of the World Federation of Muslim Journalists by its forerunners and convenors, the Pertemuan Wartawan Nusantara (Conference of Nusantara Journalists) composed of Muslim journalist leaders in the region.
Third, I am conferred the title of "Dean of Mranaw Journalists" by the Lanao Sultan, the famous and well-respected international lawyer Sultan Firdausi Abbas, Ph.D.
In the academe, I had been college dean of two ideologically contradicting schools which demonstrates my ability to cope up in any condition.
First, I was dean of arts, sciences and technology of Jamiatu Marawi Al-Islamia (formerly Mahad Marawi Al-Islami), a sectarian institution of higher learning run mostly by renowned Filipino Middle East graduate Sunni scholars.
Second, I have been dean of student affairs of Al-Mustapha International University in its open campus in Makati City, a Shia academic institution of learning with over 80 campuses worldwide.
Now, if you wanna know me, read about me and my works. If you wanna know others, do the same. This way, you won't be biased and be not judgmental. 🙂
